You will see a 'checked X mins ago' timestamp next to each appointment. If you see an appointment listed here but not on the official VFS website, it likely means someone else already booked it.
No, it's fraudalent to buy appointments from any intermediary, and the visa centres strongly condemn this practice. To protect your privacy and ensure a legitimate application, it's always best to book your own appointments directly.
